|Theme||Hands on Integrated Volitional control Electrical Stimulator (IVES)|
|Dates||15:00～17:00, Tuesday, June 11 , 2019|
|Room||Room2A, Kobe International Exhibition Hall No.2 Building|
|Introduction of the Seminar||Neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES) is commonly used as a rehabilitation tool to improve motor function and reduce spasticity after stroke. A novel type of EMG-controlled NMES called Integrated Volitional control Electrical Stimulator (IVES), which can modulate the stimulation intensity in proportional to the detected volitional EMG signals while muscle contraction is detected. Therefore, it is possible for stroke patients to use the IVES for long hours including daily activities without disturbing voluntary movements of ADLs by the stimulation. The characteristic function of IVES could have a potential to promote the functional recovery of the upper limb after stroke. The seminar aims at introducing IVES therapy, and you can experience IVES in small groups.|

|Theme||Introduction to Effective Swallowing Protocol (ESP)
- Combination of Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation (NMES) and Exercise Therapy-
|Dates||1st. 14:00～15:30, 2nd. 15:45～17:15
Wednesday, June 12 , 2019
|Room||Room2B, Kobe International Exhibition Hall No.2 Building|
|Introduction of the Seminar||Ampcare’s Effective Swallowing Protocol (ESP) is a training combining transcutaneous electrical stimulation to the Suprahyoid muscles with effortful swallowing exercise.
NMES to the Suprahyoid muscles moves the hyolaryngeal complex upward and forward which indirectly affects other swallowing structures in the pharyngeal phase.
In this seminar we will explain about ESP and have participants actually practice this protocol.
